Who should attend the 2016 Summit? Thursday and Friday's sessions are primarily for staff and managers of OEN member programs. However, the National Summit Special Reception on Friday evening is open to ALL and will be a terrific celebration of the regionwide effort to get young people outdoors! There are also two social events for Chicago area friends and supporters. Please check theSummit Agenda for details.
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
If you're flying, Midway is the closest airport. There will be transport provided from and to Midway Airport (but not O'Hare International) on Wednesday (2pm, 4pm, 6pm) and Saturday (1:30pm). Parking is also available at Camp Sullivan if you choose to rent a car.
What time should I arrive at Camp Sullivan and when will I be departing?
The welcome dinner will take place at Camp Sullivan at 6pm on Wednesday, and programming ends at 1pm on Saturday, November 5. There is an optional social event being hosted by a Chicago local climbing gym- First Ascent- on Saturday evening. Please see fullSummit Agenda for details.
Is lodging included?
Yes, lodging includes shared cabins, beds and sleeping bags. Or, just like last year, you can choose a tent, and sleeping pads from the CLIC Gear Library!
What do I need to bring?
Casual clothes (warm ones...it can be cold in November in Chicago) for daytime, shoes for a gentle hike, water bottle and something nice to wear to the Friday night reception at Northerly Island with keynote speaker, Toni Preckwinkle, President of Cook County and avid supporter of connecting people to nature. Climbing shoes and a harness (optional) for climbing at the new climbing wall onsite at Camp Sullivan and at the Saturday evening climbing social at First Ascent.
