The 6th annual national summit is heading to colorado!

Wednesday, october 30th - Saturday november 2nd, 2019

The 6th annual National Summit will be hosted on Ute Nation Ancestral lands at Cal-Wood Education Center in Jamestown, Colorado! We are partnering with OEN member Get Outdoors Leadville as well as Latino Outdoors and Cal-Wood Education Center for our first Colorado Summit.

Summit 2019 Theme: Allyship and a more inclusive Outdoors

2019 Conference Topics include:

  • Training Outdoor Leaders - Ensuring competent, confident leaders across the spectrum of educators we train.

    Examples include: Debrief techniques, in-field scenarios, pre-trip meetings, progressions (from Day-Hiking to Backpacking), skills based trainings, addressing identity within trainings.

  • Gear Here - How we manage outdoor gear libraries- from A - Z

    Examples include: Gear repair techniques, determining product life/turn-over policies, using volunteers in the gear library.

  • Behind the Scenes: Outreach/Fundraising/Volunteers- What works, and what doesn’t as we work to grow our work, reaching teachers and youth workers, volunteers, donors and families.

    Examples include: Social Media, Open House/In Person Outreach, Phone outreach.

  • Site/Campground Based Programs- Programs with access to land and/or land management partners share ideas and best practices

    Examples include: Case studies, program design, key elements, etc.


  • Participation at the welcome reception at REI’s flagship store in Downtown Denver with food, drinks and hopefully climbing on their indoor rock wall!

  • Access to all onsite Summit programming, including workshops, presentations and hikes.

  • Transportation between the conference site and downtown Denver.

  • Food and Lodging at Cal-Wood Education Center (45 min from North Boulder, CO) in dorm style bunkrooms for 3 nights (Wednesday through Saturday).


The one day ticket price specifically relates to entry on Friday, November 1st and includes a light breakfast at registration, lunch and full programming through 5pm.
