Interested in optional post-Summit activities?

  • Ian at AMC has created a great guide to local activities, restaurants, information about transportation and more!
  • Kyle is working on planning an optional, fun post-summit trip to AMC's Highland Center Lodge in the heart of the White Mountains for Saturday October 20th. This beautiful lodge has 6-person bunk rooms that will be available for a price (which is still being arranged) not to exceed $97/night and includes dinner and breakfast. We will have the rooms for Saturday night only (please arrange individually if you'd like to stay longer). Please contact hannah@outdoorsempowered.org if you're interested in joining us for this beautiful post-summit adventure! We'll be working on transportation options and finalizing the number of rooms based on what we hear from you.
The beautiful fall colors of New England, will provide the perfect backdrop for our 5th Annual National Summit, in New Hampshire.

Topics will include

  • Best Practices: We'll continue the important work we brought to fruition at the 2017 Summit, and extend what we learn by sharing the specifics our program policies, and more importantly, the rationale behind them.
  • Course Curricula: From day-hiking to multi-day backpacking courses, Network Member Programs are using scenarios, direct instruction, team building, debriefs and more. Sessions will address a number of curricula questions in order to illuminate best practices and allow participants to maximize learning others in the field.

  • Gear Management: We continue to work towards a solution- this time within Salesforce- to improve and automate our gear inventory management systems. Progress will be shared on lessons learned.

  • OEN's Strategy and Growth: We are the Network! and as such, we'll discuss our strategic plan and its implications regarding the support we're able to provide, what's next in terms of our plan for new members and how we best work together to make sure that everyone benefits from being part of our national level community. Your input is invaluable...you ARE the Network!

  • Partnerships: This year, we will have special guests Carol Olson (invited) discussing new work that she is coordinating between OEN, Latino Outdoors and Youth Outside.

  • Site Based Programming Track: A growing segment of our members focus specifically on, or run some of their programming in campgrounds.  These "site based" programs are a manifestation of our shared program model that is growing.  Especially if you are a land manager, come learn how to utilize your campgrounds to create access for those communities facing the biggest barriers to nature.
