Access & Equity in the Outdoors Working Group

Open to all OEN member organizations team membersBi-weekly conversations about the barriers to access and inclusion in the outdoors. Looking through an intersectional lens, we will discuss safety, policing, inclusion, erasure, language, culture, etc. to understand where our programs fit in the industry landscape and to envision a pathway forward of leadership on these issues. Particular issues may include: Policing in the outdoors, Indigenous erasure, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, Addressing safety for intersectional participants, Language & Cultural diversity - celebration and exclusion, Generational trauma, etc. Conversations will be driven by the interests of the participants and the current events of the day.

myTurn/Gear Library Working Group

Open to all OEN member organizations team members

An opportunity to connect and address and celebrate in real-time things that have come up for you while working in/with your gear library. We will build community and lean on everyone's lived experience and expertise to learn and share. Once a month, every 2nd Monday of each month, we will reserve this time to specifically address myTurn questions.

Queer Inclusion in Outdoor Rec Working Group

Open to all OEN member organizations team members

An hour in which OEN holds space for its members to share openly the things that we encounter in running our programs regarding queer inclusion. i.e. tenting policies,  gender affirming gear, political limitations within our regions, how to talk to all parents, etc. This is a safe and a brave space that we enter respectfully so that we can learn,  adapt, and grow accordingly. Conversations will be driven by the interests of the participants and the current events of the day.
